Flat-faced dog rescue · Ontario

Bringing flat-faced dogs home.

We rescue Bulldogs, Pugs, Frenchies, Boxers and their smoosh-faced friends, care for them in volunteer foster homes, and match each one with a family that's ready for them.

How adoption works

From application to forever home

We take our time so the match lasts. Most adoptions follow the same five steps.

The full process
  1. Apply online

Pick a dog and fill in the application on this site. It saves as you go.

  2. Phone chat

We call to talk it through and check your vet and personal references.

  3. Home visit

A volunteer visits so we can picture the dog in your home.

  4. Meet and greet

You meet your dog at their foster home. Not a match? We'll help you find one.

  5. Welcome home

Sign the adoption contract, pay the fee by e-transfer, and take them home.

Why flat faces

Wonderful dogs with special needs

Brachycephalic breeds struggle in heat, many can't swim, and plenty arrive with eye, skin, airway or tail problems that were never treated.

Our foster families and vets know these breeds. Before adoption, every dog is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, health checked, dewormed, microchipped and treated for fleas and ticks. Then we look for families ready for what the breed needs, like air conditioning in summer and a fence around the pool.

Adoption fees rarely cover the vet bill

We often spend $1,000 or more on a single bulldog before they're ready for a home. Donations are what let us say yes to the next dog.

Started by one person, carried on by many

Our founder Kathy began by rescuing one or two dogs at a time, often paying the vet bills herself. She passed away in 2014. Her rescue lives on in every foster home.

Our story

Need to rehome a flat-faced dog?

When we have space, we take owner surrenders of the breeds we specialize in. Start with a short questionnaire about your dog.
